The Japan Cambodia Association is also looking to expand business activities in Cambodia, support Japanese small and medium sized enterprises and promote the Kingdom’s investment opportunities to companies in Japan.
The direction was highlighted during a meeting between Prime Minister Hun Manet and Takahashi Fumiaki, President of the Japan Cambodia Association, at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh on August 10. The discussion covered the association’s ongoing business mission, investment plans, workforce training and efforts to strengthen cooperation between Japanese businesses and Cambodian institutions.
“The growing cooperation between Cambodia and the Japan Cambodia Association is taking a practical approach by connecting investment with skills development, agricultural processing and digital industry growth. The association plans to support Japanese SMEs operating in Cambodia while exploring opportunities in golden silk and tilapia processing for domestic and international markets. It also intends to develop workforce training in beauty care, cosmetics and automotive maintenance, including cooperation with Toyota. At the policy level, the association plans to promote Cambodia’s investment law, business environment and available incentives among Japanese companies in Japan. For Cambodia, the partnership offers an opportunity to attract more Japanese capital while strengthening human resources, manufacturing capabilities, agriculture and logistics. The cooperation also builds on Japan’s longstanding role in developing Sihanoukville Autonomous Port as a regional logistics hub.”
