Cambodia Ranks 22nd for Entry Ease but 141st for Passport Travel Access

Cambodia ranks 22nd among 199 countries for how easily foreign passport holders can enter the Kingdom, but its own passport ranks 141st globally for international travel access, according to 2026 data from Passport Reports. The figures highlight a notable gap between Cambodia’s openness to international visitors and the mobility available to Cambodian citizens.

The Cambodian passport has a mobility score of 66 and a global access rate of 33.3%, based on visa free entry, visa on arrival or simplified arrangements, and electronic travel authorisations.

Cambodia Is Relatively Open to Foreign Visitors

The 2026 data show Cambodia performing strongly when measured by the ease with which foreign passport holders can enter the country.

The Kingdom ranks 22nd among 199 countries for entry ease, placing it well ahead of its ranking for the international mobility of Cambodian passport holders.

That difference creates an interesting picture of Cambodia’s international travel position. The country has maintained relatively accessible entry arrangements for foreign visitors, while Cambodian citizens face considerably more restrictions when travelling overseas.

For tourism, this openness can be an advantage because simpler entry procedures can reduce barriers for international travellers considering Cambodia as a destination.

Cambodian Passport Offers Access to 66 Destinations Through Different Arrangements

Cambodian passport holders can enter 20 destinations without a visa, equivalent to 10.1% of the destinations assessed.

A further 41 destinations, representing 20.7%, provide visa on arrival or simplified entry arrangements. These include destinations where an eVisa is available under the report’s classification.

Five destinations, or 2.5%, use electronic travel authorisation systems.

However, 132 destinations, or 66.7%, require Cambodian passport holders to obtain a visa before travelling.

Together, the figures produce a global access rate of 33.3% and a mobility score of 66.

Asia Gives Cambodian Travellers Wider Access

Travel access varies considerably by region.

Asia provides Cambodian passport holders with an overall access rate of 44.9%. The report lists 11 visa free destinations, nine destinations offering visa on arrival or simplified entry arrangements, and two using electronic travel authorisation.

Another 27 Asian destinations require visas.

Cambodia ranks 33rd among 50 Asian countries assessed and ninth among the 11 ASEAN member states covered by the report.

This places Cambodia below several regional passport holders in terms of travel mobility, despite the country's relatively open approach to incoming international visitors.

Europe Remains the Most Restricted Region

Europe records the lowest access rate for Cambodian passport holders at just 4.3%.

According to the report, none of the European destinations assessed offer visa free entry to Cambodian passport holders. Russia and Ukraine are included in the on arrival or simplified entry category, while 45 European destinations, or 95.7%, require visas.

The contrast with other regions is significant.

The Caribbean has the highest regional access rate at 50%, followed by Africa at 48.1% and Asia at 44.9%.

Africa provides access through a mixture of visa free, simplified entry and electronic travel authorisation arrangements. Rwanda is listed as the only visa free destination in the region for Cambodian passport holders, while 22 destinations provide visa on arrival or simplified entry and three use electronic travel authorisation.

Where Can Cambodian Passport Holders Stay Longer?

The report also shows that travel access is not determined only by whether a visa is required. Permitted length of stay and entry procedures differ from one destination to another.

Barbados, Ecuador, Haiti, Panama and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines allow Cambodian passport holders to stay for up to 90 days without a visa.

In Southeast Asia, Malaysia and Singapore require an arrival card and allow stays of up to 30 days, while Thailand requires an arrival card and permits stays of up to 60 days.

Suriname uses a tourist card and permits stays of up to 90 days.

Among destinations using electronic travel authorisation, Côte d’Ivoire permits stays of up to 90 days with pre registration. Kenya and Seychelles also allow up to 90 days, while Sri Lanka permits 30 days and Taiwan 14 days under the arrangements listed by the report.

Some destinations in the simplified entry category offer even longer stays. Nepal permits up to 150 days, while Armenia allows up to 120 days, with eVisa options available in both countries.

What the Numbers Mean for Cambodia’s Travel Position?

The two rankings tell different stories.

Cambodia’s 22nd place for entry ease suggests that the Kingdom is relatively accessible to international travellers. This can support tourism by reducing administrative barriers for visitors and making Cambodia easier to include in regional travel itineraries.

The 141st place for Cambodian passport mobility, meanwhile, reflects the more limited range of destinations that Cambodian citizens can visit without obtaining a visa in advance.

From a tourism and business perspective, the distinction is important. Cambodia benefits economically when foreign visitors can enter efficiently, while greater outbound mobility can also facilitate business travel, education, investment networking and professional exchanges for Cambodian citizens.

Angkor Times Analysis

From a tourism perspective, Cambodia’s strong 22nd place ranking for entry ease is a useful advantage. Accessible entry procedures can make the Kingdom more attractive to international tourists, particularly when combined with its cultural attractions, regional connectivity and established tourism infrastructure.

The much lower passport mobility ranking presents a different challenge. For Cambodian businesses, entrepreneurs, professionals and students, international travel access can affect participation in regional markets, conferences, education and investment opportunities. The data therefore illustrate a broader distinction between Cambodia as an open destination and the mobility available to its citizens.

The report does not, by itself, explain why Cambodia has these rankings or indicate whether passport mobility will improve in the future. It does, however, provide a clear snapshot of the difference between incoming travel accessibility and outbound travel mobility in 2026.
