Banking and Tourism Come Together

The partnership represents an effort to connect Cambodia’s tourism promotion with the country’s growing digital economy.

CTB CEO Kim Minea said the project would combine Cambodia’s culture, heritage and traditions with its modern development, including digital connectivity.

He said the tourism board wants to communicate Cambodia’s story more clearly to international audiences and sees private sector partnerships as an important part of that effort.

Minea also described tourism as an important contributor to Cambodia’s economy through business activity, employment and opportunities for local communities.

‘Dare to Stay’ Targets Short Form Audiences

The new series is designed specifically for popular short form video platforms, including TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.

Rather than relying solely on conventional destination advertising, the project will use fictional storytelling to introduce viewers to Cambodian locations and contemporary life.

According to Minea, the micro drama format is intended to create connections with characters and generate curiosity about the places featured in the story.

The series will be developed by CTB and OMG Studios, or Oceanus Media Global, a Singaporean creative media technology company.

The production will follow a Korean and Khmer love story across 50 short episodes.

Cambodia’s Modern Tourism Image Takes Centre Stage

The series will showcase Cambodia through a combination of tourism and contemporary lifestyle themes.

Content is expected to feature:

  • Modern Cambodian lifestyles
  • Digital connectivity
  • Modern infrastructure
  • Hospitality
  • Tourism destinations
  • Digital banking
  • Cashless payments
  • Financial technology

This approach gives the project a broader focus than traditional destination marketing by presenting tourism alongside the services and infrastructure used by visitors and businesses.

KB PRASAC to Connect With Tourism Businesses

Under the MoU, KB PRASAC Bank will serve as a featured production partner.

The bank will receive access to businesses within the tourism sector, allowing it to provide financial and digital banking solutions to tourism related partners.

KB PRASAC President and CEO Ry Vanna said the agreement reflects the bank’s commitment to initiatives supporting Cambodia’s tourism development and the country’s image among domestic and international audiences.

He also highlighted opportunities to build connections with businesses operating throughout the tourism ecosystem.

Digital Banking Becomes Part of Tourism Storytelling

The partnership illustrates how financial technology is becoming increasingly connected with tourism and business activity.

Cashless payments and digital banking can support businesses and visitors by providing additional ways to make and receive payments, while digital financial services can help tourism operators manage their commercial activities.

For KB PRASAC, the collaboration also provides an opportunity to promote its banking services through CTB’s communication channels.

International Expansion Planned

The initial launch will focus on Cambodian audiences before the project expands internationally.

The planned markets include South Korea, Southeast Asia, Indonesia and other international destinations.

The international focus is particularly relevant to the project's Korean and Khmer storyline, potentially providing a narrative bridge between Cambodian destinations and overseas audiences.

Angkor Times Analysis

“Dare to Stay” represents a different approach to tourism promotion by using entertainment and short form digital storytelling rather than relying exclusively on conventional tourism advertisements.

The partnership is also notable because it brings together three elements that are increasingly interconnected in Cambodia’s tourism economy: destination marketing, digital platforms and financial technology.

For tourism businesses, the potential value extends beyond visibility. The project could provide a channel for connecting tourism operators with financial and digital banking services while simultaneously presenting Cambodia to potential visitors.

The international expansion will be an important stage to watch because the effectiveness of the concept will depend on how successfully a Cambodia focused story connects with audiences in different markets.

What Happens Next?

CTB, KB PRASAC Bank and OMG Studios will move forward with development of the 50 episode “Dare to Stay” series.

The project will initially be distributed through short form social media platforms, with Cambodia as the first target market.

The partners plan to subsequently extend the campaign to South Korea, Southeast Asia, Indonesia and other international markets while using the series to promote Cambodia’s destinations, lifestyle and modern digital economy.
